The reason i ask isnt because i am an idiot, its because I never self funded my other two babies. So happily this baby will be our first self funded baby ...! yay.
What that means is that i have no idea how you pay for a child.??
Do you make payments on the bill?? or do you put all themoney down??
i really dont know this answer? It depends upon where your baby is born. I'm so glad that we did not have Blue Cross, because they would have paid NOTHING of the birth center fee. They would have paid the doctor's fee only. I assume you are going to a hospital instead. You will need to talk to someone in the billing department.Do you mean like after you have the baby? Or how to add a child to insurance? If you mean after you have your baby and you have a deductible you pay it at the hospital. If you mean how do you add a baby to your insurance you just simply call and ask before you have the baby.
My insurance pays every regular doctor visit and every ER visit. I only have to pay $100 for every hospital stay. Which will only be when I deliver. So I will have only paid $100 for my whole pregnancy.I have blue cross blue shield and they pay 100% of the preganancy, including the birth... Maybe they are not the same but I would assume thats how it goes down, they can't be too far off and i THINK most insurances cover the majority of pregnancy, so you'd get a bill and yeah probably just pay payments. There is not an insurance company that is going to pay 100% of you being pregnant. You will pay out of your pocket you deductible, which in my case was $500. After I met that $500, I split the bills with Blue Cross 80/20. That means that the insurance company paid 80% and I paid 20%. Don't forget that you will have to pay the copay at the office. My office didn't make me pay every time. I got a bill at the end with all of the office visits on it. I would suggest trying to save some money because having a baby is expensive even before they get here :)i guess it depends on if you have a deductible or not. most people do so when you go for a doctor appointment, you just pay the co-pay. it seems like the average co-pay for a prenatal appt is $30. you would have to contact the insurance company though. i have to pay $40 each visit because my deductible is so high and it's not the best plan out there but i do have CareFirst BlueChoice. my deductible is $1200 so that's what i have to pay out of pocket before they start paying everything. then i have a $500 co-pay for when i deliver. so yeah, normally you just have to worry about co-pays.It depends some on your dr office and your plan. Mine covered 90% I pay 10%. My doctor had a standard fee for a regular uncomplicated delivery and had me pay my 10% before the birth, this does not include hospital/anesthesia fees. They allowed me to make payments and preferred the balance to be paid by 6 months. The hospital portion was applied to the deductible. Mine was $600 for the family. I paid the first $600 then 10% of everything after that until we hit $2000 total out of pocket which was our max for all expenses.
If you have an HMO it likely works differently and you will only have co-pays.
I had an uncomplicated hospital birth with an epidural and pitocin and paid a total of around $1200 between the hospital and dr office.you just have to pay a co-pay. usually about 15-25 dollars per dr visit. they should cover all of the pregnancy related costs.I have a blue cross HMO plan and I pay $25 for each office visit and i have to pay $250 per day for my hospital stay. So with my daughter I stayed in the hospital for 3 days so the hospital billed me $750.#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
