What are some examples of breakfasts that cover all food groups?

  • What are meals for breakfast that cover all of the food groups?
    Thanks!

  • Scrambled eggs with cheese, vegetables (tomatoes, onions, broccoli, etc), with whole wheat toast on the side. If you cook the eggs in 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil, you've even got your healthy fats!

    Enjoy!

  • Orange Juice / Grapfruit Juice
Eggs (I liked poached, but omlett with veggies & cheese & possibly ham will cover more food groups)
    Bacon (cooked but still soft)
    Toast (I like wheat)
    Grits (a fave of mine)
If you want milk instead of juice then throw in some sliced fruit (i.e. grapes, canelope, honeydew, grapfruit, pineapple, mango, kiwi)

  • Huevos Ranchero, eggs (fried), beans (refried), potatoes (hashbrowns), Spanish rice, tortillas (corn underneath and wheat in hand) and salsa.

  • Fattening, but it covers all the food groups and is our favorite:

    2 eggs over easy
2 slices of bacon or 2 sausage patties
    2 slices of buttered toast
8 ounce glass of orange juice

sometimes we have that for dinner. Not often, maybe once every 6 months because it is not healthy but you get protein, carbs, sugar, and fruit.

  • Blueberry pancakes, sausage, and an omelet with green pepper and onion.

    Fruit -Blueberries
    Vegetable -green peppers and onion
Dairy- eggs and milk for omelet
    Meat- sausage
    Grains- the pancakes

  • Peanut butter on whole wheat toast w/ sliced banana
    --protein, fat. bread/cereal, fruit

    glass of milk--dairy

  • 1. Scramble some eggs with veggies like onion, mushroom and pepper and a little low-fat shredded cheese, then wrap in a warm whole-grain tortilla to make a healthy breakfast burrito. Add a glass of orange juice and you've done it all.

    2. Have a peanut-butter and banana sandwich (really, they're good, esp if you drizzle on a little honey) on whole grain bread with a glass of milk and a piece of fruit.

    3. Have a bowl of cereal with low-fat milk and sliced fruit or berries on top, a glass of juice, and a hard-boiled egg.

NOTE: Almost all Americans get plenty of protein, in fact most get more than they need, so you don't need to make a special effort to get protein unless you are vegetarian or vegan.

ALSO: Michael Pollan offered the best advice on eating I've ever heard in one sentence: "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants." (by "eat food" he means don't eat highly processed crap full of chemicals you can't pronounce).

    Hope that helps!

  • hmmm

eggs and sausauge or bacon, protein group
with cheese or glass of Milk Milk group
    orange, or juice fruit group
V8 or slice tomatoe vegeables group
grain or wheat toast, grain group

make a sandwhich out of these too!

  • Just covering all the "food groups" is easy.

An orange, piece of toast, bacon, and glass of milk.

Whether it's HEALTHY for you, on the other hand....

  • Egg (protein), toast (carbs) and fruit
Very healthy especially if the egg is boiled or poached and the toast is wholemeal.
By the way - there are only three food groups - in terms of nutrition.
