Could you even possibly answer a question such as this one?

  • has there ever been a time in canada, when a married working couple (husband and wife)could file their income tax returns jointly?

  • Yes, in the past it was possible to file jointly or separately. But that changed a long time ago. I don't have the date handy. The reason it changed, if I recall, was to eliminate discriminatory provisions in the tax code which favored married over unmarried people.

  • No there was not.

  • NO.

Individuals, even when married have to file a return for EACH person.
